Gillaine Warne was born in Australia, went to an all girls boarding school and finished her studies in France, whereupon she returned to Australia to marry her husband Charles. They lived in the ‘Outback’ in western NSW where they raised sheep and cattle and farmed.

Moving to Sydney, then to Paris and then to New York, their family of four children was asked to adapt their languages, schools and life style at each step.
Gillaine continued her studies in New York, obtaining her degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design from the New York Botanical Gardens, and started her own company, "Inside Out", designing and installing gardens.

Upon moving to Greenville she became involved in music, gardening, and sports, serving as President of the Carolina Foothills Garden Club, volunteering for the Peace Center and creating a golf handicap.

Her greatest passion, however, came through Christ Church Missions and Outreach, and since her first trip to Haiti, now 11 years ago, she has been running an Agriculture program that started with a simple hillside garden and is now a thriving multi farm project, producing food and ingredients for a nutrition program which has served over 17,000 starving children. The program also extends to education and family assistance of farmers who grow in partnership with Zanmi Agrikol ("Partners in Agriculture" in Kreole) and is now working on an Agricultural/Vocation school to provide students leaving school with a profession and a future.
